ShoppingHoneycombers Bali
The Pererenan Address
Honeycombers Bali puts the house on its list of Canggu's best women's fashion stores.
The guide, ‘Where to shop in Canggu: 16 best women's fashion stores’, maps Canggu area by area. In Pererenan, the quieter corner where slow fashion and independent labels have settled, it walks through the door of Maison Les Énervés.
What it found is a house with an edge, one that treats the rules of fashion as something to play with. The guide sees a meeting point between architecture and clothing, with a strong commitment to sustainability and a nod to the colours and craft of Morocco.
It also notes the choice of unexpected materials, cut into silhouettes that do not date, and the care given to every finish.
Day to night
From morning to late evening, and on the nights that call for something more.
What caught its eye
Printed pieces, embroidered shirts, and the trousers cut in honeycomb mesh.
The address
Jl. Dalem Lingsir No. 10, Pererenan, Bali.
LifestyleHarper's Bazaar Singapore
A Hidden Gem in Bali
Harper's Bazaar Singapore names the boutique one of the island's hidden shopping gems, in ‘10 Hidden Shopping Gems in Bali, According to a Frequent Bali Visitor’.
For a list of addresses that only regulars know, the magazine asked a frequent visitor to the island where to shop. One of the answers was in Pererenan: the Maison Les Énervés boutique, a little out of the way and worth the detour.
On the rails, easy separates for women and for men. Most of them carry the motif the house is known for, those faces drawn in a single line.
The founder
Wakim Krari, the French designer and architect behind Maison Les Énervés.
The craft
The embroidery is done by artisans from Bali who are part of our own team. Keeping that savoir-faire in-house, and alive, is one of the reasons Maison Les Énervés exists.
FashionFemmes du Maroc
The Zen Énervé
In print and online, Femmes du Maroc profiles Wakim Krari and the house he founded, under the title ‘Maison les Énervés : La quintessence de la zénitude’.
Born in Angers and raised in Tangier, Wakim Krari is an architect by training. A trip to Bali, and to Canggu in particular, changed the course of things: he stayed, opened an architecture practice there, and soon began to design clothes.
The magazine tells how the house grew out of travel. Across Asia, Wakim kept a small notebook with the names of the people who left a mark on him. Those faces and stories became the starting point of the collections.
Énervés, but zen
The magazine describes a relaxed, bohemian-chic way of dressing: light trousers, bright white shirts, swimsuits and structured corsets drawn with lines. Natural fabrics, a unisex spirit and handmade pieces, for women and men of all ages and shapes.
Famous fans
The house has won over many personalities, among them Iris Mittenaere and Manal Benchlikha.
What comes next
After the first boutique in Bali: a project in Morocco, and a capsule in tribute to Chefchaouen, built around a shirt the magazine predicted would rival the Siam pants.
FashionCSP Times
Independent & Luxe
CSP Times includes Maison Les Énervés in its ‘CSP Times Guide: Boutique Luxe Fashion Labels’, a selection of the world's chicest independent houses.
In a round-up of small houses with big personalities, from Australian swimwear to European silk, CSP Times singled out the embroidered faces of Maison Les Énervés. Each one is stitched by hand on natural fabric, so no two pieces are exactly alike.
The guide points to Wakim Krari, the French-Moroccan architect and designer who founded the house in Bali, as the source of its style, and to the play of lines and textures that defines it.
The approach
Fine fabrics, finishes taken seriously, and a share of recycled and recyclable materials.
How to wear it
One printed piece on its own, or the full set head to toe.
What caught its eye
The Nejjar Linen Shirt with black embroidery and the Linen Siam Pants.
ShoppingPublic
On the Newsstand
A place in the shopping pages of the French celebrity weekly.
In spring 2022, Public slipped Maison Les Énervés into its shopping pages, a selection of the pieces its editors wanted readers to notice that week. Not bad for a house founded only two years earlier.
The signature
Our lines are inspired by architectural sketches and by the drawings of Pablo Picasso, and are embroidered by hand in our Bali atelier.
TelevisionTF1 · 50' Inside
To the End of the World
Wakim Krari featured in the 50' Inside report ‘Raja Ampat, le paradis du bout du monde’, broadcast on TF1.
About five years after moving to Bali, Wakim Krari appeared on French television. The TF1 magazine 50' Inside travelled to Raja Ampat, the Indonesian archipelago often called the last paradise on earth, and the founder of Maison Les Énervés was part of the report.
Made for travel
Our clothes are made for people who move between places: light enough for a cabin bag, bold enough to stand out once you arrive.
CultureHypebeast Arabia
Made by Hand
Hypebeast Arabia features Maison Les Énervés and puts the spotlight on the way the clothes are made.
For its audience across the Middle East, Hypebeast Arabia chose to talk about what happens before a piece ever reaches a store: the hands that make it. Maison Les Énervés works closely with artisans and produces in small batches.
That choice limits the environmental impact of each collection and keeps the work, and the know-how, in the local economy.
Holiday editTREMG
Dressed for the Holidays
The Linen Siam Pants make the cut in TREMG's ‘7 Stylish Pieces to Rock for Your Holiday Parties and Get-Togethers’.
When the season of dinners and family visits comes back, so does the eternal question of what to wear. TREMG answered with seven pieces, and the Siam was one of them.
The edit liked its look, sleek and playful at once, with the hand embroidery doing all the talking. It comes in several colours, so everyone can find the shade that suits them best.
The extra
For a smaller gift, or the finishing touch to a look, the bucket hats were picked too, in white, pink and sage green.
FashionBeauty News NYC
Wearable Art
New York's Beauty News NYC dedicates a feature to the autumn collection: ‘FW 2021: Maison Les Énervés for Elegant Artfulness’.
The magazine saw the collection as art you can wear, and went as far as imagining Matisse, Frida Kahlo or Picasso dressed in the house's pieces. Linen, silk and cotton, cut for men and for women, refined enough for special events and relaxed enough for every day.
The palette stays soft and understated, and lets the patterns speak.
The detail
Honeycomb mesh, the weave you usually find on kitchen towels and bed linen, turned into clothes you want to be seen in.
The accessory
The reversible bucket hats, two looks in one.
Women'sFashion Maniac
House of the Restless
Fashion Maniac introduces Maison Les Énervés to its readers, a unisex house based in Bali with French and Moroccan roots.
Énervé is a word with two faces. It can mean angry, but it can also describe someone full of life, passionate and spontaneous. The house uses that double meaning as a filter for everything it designs.
The result is bold and one of a kind, in materials chosen for their quality: organic cotton, silk, linen and sterling silver.
The signature
Embroidery on every garment, from the logo to the illustrations influenced by Picasso and Jean Cocteau.
The making
Small batches, produced with Indonesian artisans, to reduce the impact on the environment and support the local economy.
EditorialParis Vous Aime
A Fashion Story
A Maison Les Énervés editorial for Paris Vous Aime magazine, with creative direction and photography by Wakim Krari.
A pale blue vintage convertible, high stone walls and the ocean on the horizon. For Paris Vous Aime, the house told its story the way it knows best: with light, movement and embroidered lines.
The models wear the signature pieces of the collection, the white shirts drawn with black faces, the pink sets and the Siam pants, styled loose and worn with ease.
