How to Wear Baggy Pants: 5 Looks with the Siam Oversize
Baggy trousers are easy to wear and surprisingly easy to get wrong. The secret is simple: let the volume be the statement, and keep everything else intentional. Here are five looks built around our cult piece, the Siam Oversize, from the departure lounge to the last table of the night.
Before the looks, a few principles. They are what make a very baggy trouser look chosen, never borrowed, and they hold whether you are boarding a night flight or sitting down to dinner. Three rules first, then five outfits.
Rule 01Balance the top
A generous leg loves a shorter or more structured top. Our heavyweight tees are cut slightly cropped for exactly this reason.
Rule 02Get the length right
On the Siam Oversize, the elastic waistband adapts to many body shapes, so the size is mostly about your height. S/M is made for heights up to about 180 cm, L/XL for anyone taller. Our Siam Oversize size chart has the details.
Rule 03Let one thing speak
The Siam already carries a hand-embroidered line that draws faces, eyes and lips down the leg. Let it do the talking, and keep the rest of the outfit calm.
StyleLooks 01 and 02
What to wear with very baggy pants
Two looks for two very different hours: a night in a plane seat, and a long dinner in Paris. Same leg, two moods.
The same very baggy trouser can do both, and that is rather the point. On the plane, comfort comes first but still has to look deliberate. At the table, the mood turns darker, and the embroidered line shows itself slowly, only to the people sitting closest.
Look 01The long-haul flight
The Siam was drawn for people who travel, and it shows. The pockets are sized for a passport and a phone, the waist is elastic, and the cotton and linen blend breathes for the whole journey.
Why it works: everything is soft, nothing is sloppy. The dark trouser hides the reality of airports, and the line on the leg means you still arrive looking like someone with a plan.
Look 02Dinner in Paris
Baggy trousers at a dinner table? Absolutely, if you trade volume for texture. Go dark, go tone on tone, and add silk.
Why it works: black on black reads elegant from across the room, and the embroidered line only appears when someone leans in. Which, at a good dinner, they will.
StyleLooks 03 and 04
From a Bali sunset to the festival night out
Light colours for the last of the sun, then white faux fur for the hours after dark.
These two looks follow the Siam from the beach at golden hour into the night. The first is quiet, graphic and happy to go barefoot. The second is the loudest outfit in this guide, and it knows it.
Look 03Sunset in Bali
This is where the Siam was born, so it feels right at home. Light colours, bare shoulders, a hat for the last of the sun.
Why it works: the contrast between a structured sleeveless top and a fluid leg is the whole silhouette. Ivory and black keep it graphic, even barefoot in the sand.
Look 04The festival night out
For the nights that start at nine and end somewhere unexpected, from a club to a festival field, there is the Fur edition. Same Siam volume, but the line is drawn in white faux fur.
Why it works: one very loud piece, one very simple one. The faux fur catches the light on the dance floor, and the jersey adds a sporty wink without competing.
StyleLook 05 and the finishing touches
The soft total look, and a word on shoes
A last look for the daytime, then the two details that decide everything: the shoe and the hem.
One more outfit for the daytime, in a single soft colour from the waist to the hem. Then a short note on shoes, and on the length of the hem, which with a leg this generous is mostly a question of size, not of styling.
Look 05The soft total look
For a daytime look that still turns heads, play with colour and show a little skin at the waist.
Why it works: a short top makes the waist visible and gives the volume a shape. Rose on rose turns it into a set; black adds contrast.
A note on shoes
With a very baggy leg, the shoe shows less than you think, and that is good news. A chunky sneaker or a sandal lets the hem fall naturally. If the hem breaks too much on the shoe, the fix is not to roll the trouser up. It is to check your size by height.
Wear it your way
The Siam Oversize is worn by men and women, in a long list of colours, with embroidered lines, tone on tone lines or white faux fur lines. Each pair is made to order and embroidered by hand in our Bali atelier, so no two are exactly alike.
Explore the Siam collection, read the Siam story, see how men style it in embroidered pants for men, and expect a few strangers to ask where your trousers come from.
Everything is soft, nothing is sloppy.
